Edna felt disgraced when at school because her father sol d homemade liquor all over town. He made liquor in the basement of 500 Meridian St. Crescen t City, CA., his son, Maurice W. Batt helped him make deliveries around town. The liquor wa s disguised in milk cans. He also had a still in the house upstairs to make corn whiskey. H arry died of stomach cancer.

CHURCH: According to a letter from my Dad, Maurice Weston Batt, dated 1 Nov
1967, his father painted inside the temple or tabernacle but not sure which
one. Family stories say the same and that he was a non member of the LDS
Church. He said his Dad told him that his father, Thomas Batt, was a Mormon.

Convalescent Hospital December 25,1972. Age 85 years. She was a resident of 500
Meridan Street, Crescent City and had resided in Del Norte county for 50
years. Mrs. Batt is survived by her children; Florice Mitola, Maurice Batt,
Crescent City, Calif.; Thelma McBeth, Klamath, Calif.; Nina Marks, Happy Camp,
Calif.; Edna Harwell, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Bonnie Maietta, Crescent City,
Calif.; Wendell Batt, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Ned Batt, Concord, Calif.; and Parley
Batt, Richmond, Calif. niece, Annette Saville, Salt Lake City, Utah, and nephew

HOTEL MANAGER DIES.
Special to the Tribune.
Evanston, Wyo., Nov. 11.-Thomas Harris, 56 years of age, died early this
morning at the Marx Hotel, death being caused by Pneumonia and complications.
Mr. Harris came to Evanston recently from Greeley, Colo., to assume the
position as manager of the Marx Hotel, he is survived by a niece, Miss Lily
Doman Stevenson, who was at his bedside at the time of his death. Funeral
arrangements have not yet been made.
